Trying to decide the curriculum for your homeschooled child is incredibly stressful. Looking at the various materials out there can be truly overwhelming. You want to be sure that you have chosen the perfect programs for your child, yet you can’t really know until you try them out. So you go to homeschool conventions and you look at rows and rows of curriculum and get a sense of what you love, what you like, and what you can do without.
Then comes the fun part: trying to figure out how to pay for everything that you saw that you loved. You try to prioritize which subjects are worth more: math more than science? Reading comprehension over foreign language? Then you take those lists and scour the web trying to find the best deals out there. Well, your starting point should be the Homeschool Buyers Co-Op. This site has many of the things that you love all at a discount. It allows us as homeschoolers to buy in bulk, just like the school systems can. This gives a deeper discount and thereby allows us to purchase more of what we want. I have been using them for years and have gotten some really great deals from them. In addition, they have also turned me onto curriculum I would not have known about. They had a deal on a program called Science-Bits that my daughter LOVES. When it was set to expire she begged me to renew it because she enjoyed it so much. Now, she loves science, but she will go on the site to watch the videos, etc. in her free time.
They send out a daily newsletter type thing where they introduce you to various curriculum programs, which is how I found many of the options I have used over the years. You can also use it to try out various programs for often they will offer a trial subscription that is often anywhere from two weeks to 30 days. You sign your child up with the site, and then purchase it at a discount if you decide it is a positive experience. The site allows us as homeschoolers to gain access to many more options than we would have had on our own. This isn’t a paid advertisement or anything, I was just thinking that those looking for curriculum would want the option of checking them out – I found them by doing a search initially for discounted curriculum and was really glad I did. Over the years I have gotten great bargains from them. I was thinking that as I find more places to get good deals at I would start sharing them here, just to give some options.
Best of luck with your searches!
